I am deeply honored to share that I was featured in Business for Home, in a piece written by John Milton Fogg about a moment I will never forget.
This past May, at the ANMP conference in Dallas, the Association of Network Marketing Professionals presented me with their Lifetime Achievement Award. I was completely blindsided. After four decades in this profession, my first honest reaction was disbelief. As I said that night, "I still believe it might have been a mistake."
The truth is, I could not be more grateful. Once I found the words, what came out was simple: "I am DAMN PROUD of this award."
This recognition means so much to me because of what it stands for. A lifetime spent serving people. John's piece traces that story, from helping found the ANMP and launching The Tom Chenault Show in 1999, to creating Contact Mapping and writing The Coffee Shop Interview. If there is one idea underneath all of it, it is this: everybody you meet is a candidate to be served, not sold.
The article describes me as "a talent scout and a tour guide," and I think that is exactly right. I have never wanted the spotlight. I have only ever wanted to help other people find theirs.
"Lots of people are smarter than I am. Lots of people are richer than I am. Lots of people are lots of things more and better than I am. But you'll have a heck of a time out-loving me."
Thank you to the ANMP, and to everyone who has been part of this with me over the years. I am humbled, and I am grateful.
